Welcome to the wonderful world of Dentopia!

This is what we made for the Dentopia website. It was never hosted, but the files were there, developed by me and another bloke called Kinju. (This part obviously wasn't on the original website.) This was actually the first HTML website I ever coded, so there's that.

Anyway, I suppose I should tell you what Dentopia was. Dentopia was more or less the original Birdpals. It came before Birdpals and was shortly cancelled. It was also renamed to Project Topia as a placeholder name just before we cancelled it, because there already was a Dentopia, a dentist company, so you can tell why Penguin Giraffe (The Team Leader) wanted to change it.

There were a few notable things that happened during the development of Dentopia. Actually, there was only really one. While Dentopia was originally a 2D game, it switched to 3D midway through development, with it's inspiration being Club Penguin Island. This is because I only knew Unity at the time, so we might as well make it 3D. Actually, that's a lie. I have no idea why Penguin made the game 3D. You're gonna have to ask him if you wanna know more. It was switched back to 2D just before the cancellation.

There were two minigames planned for Dentopia. The first one is Sneaky Melons, which you can find more info about on it's game page, and carrot dash, which never got past the concept stage. After Dentopia's cancellation, Penguin made a game studio which I can't tell you the name of because it changed so many times, and we were going to release these minigames separately as mobile games. This, of course, never happened.

I don't really know what I can add that I haven't already said. Shame that this failed, as with Birdpals, but I really liked this one. Met most of my online friends as a butterfly effect from it, plus, I just thought the aesthetic was rather nice. Maybe it's greater nostalgia, maybe it's because it's untainted by actually having to work on the game like Birdpals, but I kind of wish this kept going instead of Birdpals. Kinda. I love Birdpals still. I might try to grab some development screenshots for this?
